Common Nighthawk
Chordeiles minor
A very cool group of birds, but overall, birds that are more often heard than seen! I've HEARD Whip-poor-will, and caught glimpses a couple of times. I've HEARD Common Poorwill. I've even heard and seen Antillean Nighthawks flying around at night on the US Virgin Islands. But photographing Goatsuckers? Easier said than done, as you often only hear them, and when you do see them, it's often at night. Common Nighthawks are one species that I can occasionally see during daylight here in South Dakota.
