Raccoon

This portrait of a Raccon was taken on March 18th, 2011 at LaCreek National Wildlife Refuge in South Dakota.  Pretty smart critters.  I thought this guy was injured or something.  However, as I watched him, he reluctantly finally got up, and I saw that there was a carp underneath him, mostly frozen in the ice.  I presume he was using his body heat to thaw it out of the ice!  Photo taken with Canon 50D, 400 5.6L.

Raccoon - Procyon lotor
