Peaceful Dove Photos

Geopelia placida

Someone asked me recently the difference between a dove and a pigeon. I didn't know if there was any official definition, but one place online said that in general, people tended to call larger species pigeons, and smaller species doves. That certainly fits with the Peaceful Dove, as they are relatively small compared to many other dove and pigeon species in the same area. Pretty little things, the photos below are all from near Port Douglas, Australia.
