Great-tailed Grackle Photos

Photography by Terry Sohl

My Favorite: Great-tailed Grackles are a relatively new arrival in South Dakota. When I first started birding in 2000, it was a species that was expanding their range northward (ahem...climate change), and was just starting to regularly be found in southern parts of the state.  The photo below is from Lincoln County, South Dakota, and provides a nice look at the overall structure of a male Great-tailed Grackle and that glorious tail.
