Baltimore Oriole Photos
My Favorite: Baltimore Orioles are always VERY welcome spring guests in my yard, providing a much needed splash of color after a dreary South Dakota winter. They usually arrive after the first week of May, and typically I'll have one or two regularly visit my orange and jelly feeder. In 2018, however, I had up to a DOZEN Baltimore Orioles in my yard at one time! It was an odd year, with a very late, cold spring, and migration seemed to be condensed for many species. However, it really was a blast seeing so much orange flitting about the back yard. My favorite photo has to be from that year...hence this picture of a gorgeous adult male sitting on top of the shepherd's hook that holds the feeder. Taken on May 11th, 2018 in Brandon, South Dakota.
