My Favorite: One of the most elegant and beautiful sparrow species for me, Lark Sparrows are one that I don't regularly see. My favorite photo below shows one perched on a piece of granite on a VERY hot July day. It may look like the bird is singing, but in fact it just a posture many birds take when trying to deal with heat, given they don't perspire or have other ways to cool down.
