Red-tailed Hawk Photo

This photo was taken on September 30th, 2006 near Lake Thompson, Kingsbury County. This guy let me approach closer than any other red-tailed hawk I've ever seen, and I think it was because he had an injured wing.  It looks like he'd just fed, but maybe he hurt himself getting his supper.  He took off and flew just fine, but then came back down and landed on a log, holding one wing out (see other photos).  Hope he made it...sure is a beautiful creature.  Canon 20D, 400 5.6L.
