This photo of a male American Kestrel was taken on February 5th, 2006 at the Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon. I'd just left my house headed elsewhere when I saw this guy as I drove by. I can NEVER get close enough to these guys for photos, so just about kept on driving. Then I thought what the heck...so I turned around, gave it a try, and lo-and-behold, I FINALLY found one that stayed put for me. Given how often I've tried for these guys, this now definitely ranks as one of my favorite photos. Taken with Canon 20D, 400 5.6L lens.
