The “Redneck Vote” – Exploiting Americans’ Own Bigotry and Hatred

Obama

A black president, showing mercy towards illegal immigrants. It's the worst nightmare for the "Redneck Vote". So, they'll vote Republican, and effectively vote to kill their own futures.

Republican politicians are outraged.  Oh, they’re not REALLY “outraged”, they’re “outraged” as only Republicans can be, a completely fake, manufactured form of “outrage.”  It’s the same kind of fake “outrage” they express every time Obama or any other Democrat opens their mouth.  So what has Republican politicians “outraged” this time?  Obama’s statements this week that the administration’s policy will be not to pursue deportation of young illegal immigrants.

The policy is basically an executive order with elements of the “Dream Act”.  Illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. as children, who haven’t run into any legal trouble, won’t actively be pursued and deported. Republicans of course are screaming “AMNESTY!!!” at the top of their lungs, as if it’s somehow EVIL to treat young people who have spent most of their lives in the U.S. as, well…people…as AMERICANS, with the same hopes, dreams, and ambitions as the rest of us.

Republicans don’t screw around.  They don’t worry about facts, figures, or trying to get Americans up to speed on policy issues.  No, they seemingly have one, and only one, strategy…to pander to the basic primeval emotions and instincts of people.  Bigotry…Fear…Hatred…THESE are the foundations of the Republican party platform.  The economy?  The environment?  Foreign policy?  Irrelevant!!  They hear Obama showing COMPASSION to a group of AMERICANS (for all intents and purposes, other than legal standing)…and immediately they see an opening.  They see a way to, once again, ignore all the issues that REALLY should matter to Americans, and instead capitalize on and exploit the bigotry and hatred that is present in far too many Americans.

I’m amazed at how clouded peoples’ vision is, with regard to what truly benefits them, and how they behave.  Republicans have mastered the art of convincing Americans to vote AGAINST their own best interests.  GREED, corruption, and inadequate oversight of Wall Street and corporate America have played a huge role in where our economy is today…yet just a few short years after Republicans and their Wall Street friends drove the economy off a cliff, they’ve managed to convince the ignorant electorate that Wall Street and Corporate America aren’t the problem, that it’s government that’s the problem.   For those people who AREN’T stupid enough to buy that…they fall back on their strategy of tapping into the internal bigotry and hatred of people.

So…the poor working class stiffs who CONTINUE to lose their opportunity to achieve the American dream, who CONTINUE to see their “share of the pie” go to an ever-increasingly rich 1%…ALSO are the same complete idiots who continue to vote Republican.  They hear Republican politicians bitch and moan about illegal immigrants, and they are manipulated into blaming illegal immigrants for the economy, for their own crappy lives, for…well…everything.  Republicans continue to tap into the inner BIGOTRY of Americans, and that same ignorant group of Americans continually give their vote away to Republicans, in return for…in return for what?

What the HELL do Republicans do to help the working class American?  Oh yes, that’s right…tax cuts for the rich and policies tilted completely towards benefiting those who need the least amount of help.  But yet they’ve completely locked down the “redneck vote”…those who vote based on their own bigotry and hatred, despite the implications for how their vote really affects their own lives.

I guess if it didn’t impact the rest of us, it would actually be some kind of sweet justice, where those who live their lives based on HATRED end up being punished in the end for their own ignorance and biases.  But it’s hard to laugh at how the redneck-voter ends up screwing themselves, when in the end, they end up screwing all of us.

Pamela Geller – Scum of the Week

It seems like I’ve had a lot of “Scums of the week” lately.  What can I say, there’s a lot of people out there that deserve them.  Pamela Geller is one who richly deserves the award, and is someone you could probably give it to about every week.  THIS week’s Geller related issue is a “conference” organized in Detroit to ostensibly talk about a young Muslim woman who was murdered.  Given Geller’s attendance and the attendance of other anti-Islamic bigots, and it’s very clear the “conference” is yet another excuse for a bunch of redneck bigoted pigs to spout their hate.

Geller has a long history of anti-Islamic statements, many of which border on the downright bizarre.  Obama is a favorite target of hers, as she has said on countless occasions that we currently have a “Muslim in the White House”.  A sampling of some of Geller’s more disgusting quotes, from SourceWatch.org:

  • “Obama is a third worlder and a coward. He will do nothing but beat up on our friends to appease his Islamic overlords. All this is going down while Obama plays footsie at his nuclear nonsense campfire — sucking up to Iran’s enablers while beating up our allies.”
  • “It is well-known that Obama allegedly was involved with a crack whore in his youth. Very seedy stuff. Why aren’t [the media] pursuing that story? Find the ho, give her a show! Obama allegedly trafficked in some very deviant practices. Where’s the investigation? . . . Back in the early 80′s, there were only two reasons to travel to Pakistan. Jihad or drugs. I think he went for the drugs and came back with jihad.”
  • “Jews refuse to get on Obama’s Trains”. . . “Obama is pressuring Jews to “evacuate” from parts of Israel? And what Warsaw ghetto does the muhammadan [sic] president have in mind? I think I am gonna hurl. The Jews will not go. The Jews will not submit to this century’s nazis [sic] and Mansourian poser.”
  • (On the passage of health care): “The moochers and the looters, the crooks and degenerates voted at 1 am this morning to rip the constitution to shreds, to rape the American people and to nationalize medicine.”
  • Repeatedly accuses Obama of being a Muslim: Geller’s blog contains 267 posts tagged “Muslim in the White House?”
  • Geller claims that “devout Muslims should be prohibited from military service” because she believes that Adolf Hitler and Nazism were inspired by Islam.
  • In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Norway committed by Anders Breivik, she claimed that the young people killed were bound to become “leaders of the party responsible for flooding Norway with Muslims who refuse to assimilate, who commit major violence against Norwegian natives including violent gang rapes, with impunity, and who live on the dole.”

A lovely woman.  What irks me about pieces of crap like Geller is how they rely on the HATE and bigotry of others to make money.  Hate is a big business in America, with an entire industry built around losers like Geller and the hatred they spew.

The MSNBC story I linked to above has some absolutely scary parts to it.  This line really struck me:

Although many Americans have never encountered a Muslim in person, about 43 percent questioned in a recent Gallup Poll said they felt at least “a little” prejudice against Muslims.

“Many Americans have never encountered a Muslim”?   I guarantee that most Americans have encountered a Muslim, but this line to me epitomizes how many Americans THINK about Islam, as if it’s some foreign religion with no place in America itself.  That ridiculous lead-in to this sentence is a perfect complement to the stat that 43% of Americans said they feel prejudice against Muslims.  OK, America, if you supposedly haven’t ever MET a Muslim…why the HELL do you feel “at least a little prejudice” against them!?!?

It’s no wonder that scum like Geller can thrive in America.  There are one hell of a lot of bigoted, small-minded Americans out there who just eat up the kind of crap that Geller spews.  Congrats Geller on the first of your “scum of the week” awards.

Right-wing Fear and Paranoia

Barack Obama

Yes, America, it's true. Your president, the leader of the free world...is a black man. Right-wingers can point to baseless conspiracy theories all they want. They can completely distort the facts in an effort to discredit Obama's leadership. But at the end of the day, for many of these folks, what it all really boils down to is that they have a (GASP!) black man as their president.

MSNBC this morning has a story about the incredible rise in the militia groups since Obama was elected in 2008.  Militia groups, hate groups, what MSNBC calls “patriot” groups (HAH!) all have  experienced dramatic increases in numbers.  The story cites the “fear of a black president” as one reason for the initial rise, and “increasing fear of a Obama re-election” as a reason numbers continue to rise.

What…the…HELL…do folks have to justify that “fear” of Obama, or a continued Obama presidency?  What do Repubs and conservatives in general have to complain about with regard to Obama?  Obama inherited the worst economy, the worst recession, since the Great Depression.  Despite woes continuing in Europe and elsewhere….the American economy is turning around.  The American auto industry was saved, thanks to the decision to ignore the ignorant public who vehemently opposed the auto industry bailouts.  Obama made a daring decision to go after Bin Laden on foreign soil, something you KNOW conservative hawks would be CROWING about…if it weren’t a black, democratic president that made the call.    Obama pushed through a health care bill that the (ignorant) public hated, but like the auto bailout, public opinion is turning.  Even REPUBLICANS can’t ignore the facts forever, and the facts are that ObamaCare provides health insurance coverage for 25 million more Americans, AND non-partisan analysis shows it will SAVE money over the next 10 years.

So what is it, right-wing nuts?  What do you REALLY have to complain about?  You’ve got many on the right calling this the “worst presidency” in the history of the Nation, despite the obvious successes Obama has had.  When the contraception “debate” bubbled up over the last few weeks, you had Newt Gingrich saying that the MOMENT Obama is re-elected, he will “declare war on the Catholic Church”.  You’ve got these right-wing, hate-mongering wackos noted in the MSNBC story who are “fearful” of what a continued Obama presidency would do.

OK, Repubs, PLEASE tell me how America has seemingly fallen apart under Obama’s reign, in your eyes.  Do you have ANY actual facts to support that opinion?  Right-wing religious wackos…PLEASE tell me how Obama has undermined religious freedom in ANY way.   Gun-totin’, militia wackos…PLEASE tell me how Obama’s presidency is bringing about the end of civilization as we know it.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at how overboard the Right has gone in terms of the obvious hate, fear, and paranoia.  When folks like Rush Limbaugh are spewing hateful messages day in and day out, when you have Fox “News” banging the drums of hate for all things “liberal”, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the right-wing wackos have (again) simply ignored reality and made up their own little conspiracy stories regarding Obama.

I also guess I shouldn’t be surprised that 3 years into a Obama presidency, you STILL have wackos like Sheriff Joe Arpaio who are insisting Obama has a fake birth certificate, and really isn’t a U.S. citizen.  After all, Obama is (GASP!!)…Black!!  Yes, it’s true!! We have a BLACK president!!  I have NO DOUBT that for a VERY large number of folks involved in the hate or militia groups, that it’s simply a matter of good ol’ fashioned bigotry.  I have NO DOUBT that for a VERY large number of the Republican electorate who have a “problem” with Obama, that the “problem” stems more from Obama’s skin color than what he’s actually done as president.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at all the right-wing fear and paranoia.  But I’m definitely disappointed where these folks have taken American civility, decency, and respect for your fellow-man.

America: Home of “Political Bigotry”

Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh, father of American "Political Bigotry".

Few things bother me more than bigotry.  When people think of bigotry, what  typically comes to mind is racism or homophobia, or, as I’ve noted in recent posts, bigotry based on religious belief.   I think we have a relatively “new” form of bigotry that is perhaps as equally destructive…”political bigotry”.

Politics has always had a nasty side.  But in my lifetime (I’m 45), is there any question that basic civility in politics has been in decline?   The current GOP has adopted intolerance of Democrats to the point that it’s seemingly their only party platform, as the party of “no” seemingly is incapable of coming up with a coherent strategy for governing other than opposing ANYTHING proposed or done by Democrats.  Partisanship obviously isn’t unique to the GOP, as Democrats are sometimes just as guilty (although they haven’t honed inter-party hatred to the fine edge that the GOP has).   But…

During my lifetime, and from my personal perception, it seems that start of the decline in civility was during the Clinton years.  In Congress you had Newt Gingrich and fellow Republicans hell-bent on trying to personally destroy the Clinton administration.  On the airwaves, Rush Limbaugh started the now well-established tradition for talking heads to whip up hatred towards Democrats and liberals.  Over time, the pure HATRED towards other political groups has led to two parties that refuse to cooperate on even the most basic and uncontroversial pieces of legislation.  Gridlock is now the standard in American politics, where every piece of legislation is considered more for the political implications and the next election, rather than on its merits for improving the lives of Americans.

What bothers me the most, however, is how inter-party battles have spilled over into the American mainstream.   The ridiculous battles, the COMPLETE lack of civility now seen in American politics has spilled over into the lives of everyday Americans, and how we treat each other.   Inter-party battles between the GOP and Democrats, the pure HATRED being spouted on the airwaves on completely one-sided political shows, have infiltrated the lives of Americans to such a degree that the American people themselves are seemingly at war with each other.

America has become a place where “political bigotry” has defined us just as much as has discrimination based on race, religion, or sexual preference.

Given an individual person’s religion, place of work, and background, the people we associate with often DO have similar political beliefs.  Just because of where you end up in life, chances are that for many of us, our friends and colleagues, overall, are more likely to have political beliefs similar to your own.  That’s the case for me.  Despite being in a very “red” state, most of my friends and colleagues are relatively liberal, just because of my background and where I work.   However, I also have friends and colleagues who have very different political beliefs, and we’ve managed to remain friends and colleagues without killing each other.

It seems, however, that for an increasing number of Americans, that simply isn’t an option.  Given all the pure hatred that has infiltrated American politics (and again, Repubs, sorry, you get most of the blame here), for substantial numbers of Americans, simple CIVILITY towards someone from the “other” party isn’t an option.

Look at how Republicans use the term “liberal” as if it’s an insult, hurled with as much venom at another human being as someone might use a traditional curse word.  If someone sits around and listens to a Rush Limbaugh for day after day, week after week, year after year, is it any wonder how indoctrinated many in the general public have become in treating the “other” party as the enemy?   It’s to the point where a person’s political beliefs are EVERY BIT as much of a grounds for bigotry, for hateful or discriminatory treatment, as other characteristics that make people different.

The same lack of civility, the same lack of cooperation that’s seen in Congress or during any American election is now a part of many Americans’ daily lives.  We’ve become a country where one group no longer considers the other real “Americans”, simply due to political persuasion.   It’s an ugly trend.  Despite what some would have you believe (Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter, or ANYONE on Fox “News” come to mind), you CAN disagree with someone and still treat them with civility.

The Santorum/Graham “Brand” of Christianity

Rick Santorum and "faith"

Rick Santorum and Rev. Franklin Graham to me are a great example of what being a Christian should NOT be about. I find it repulsive that the Santorum "brand" of Christianity, a brand that FAR too many Americans follow, uses religion as a tool to bludgeon those who look, act, or think differently, rather than using it as a tool to promote tolerance.

I really don’t care what people believe personally.  If you are Hindu, Muslim, Christian…whatever.  Believe what you want.  No matter your religion, the underlying morals are generally the same.  Be nice to each other.  Don’t kill each other.   Don’t steal from each other.   All the major religions have the same general moral guidance.   In theory.  In reality?   The words are all there.  The major tenets of the major religions all SOUND good.  But how do “religious” people actually act?

Why is it that those who CLAIM to be the most “religious”, are also very often the most hateful, bigoted people on the planet?  My biggest pet peeve in life…the bigotry, hypocrisy, and pure HATRED that stem from religion.   As we learn more about Rick Santorum, the more I’m convinced he’s NOT just a harmless simpleton with a view of the world right out of the 1600s.  No, as we learn more, the more he opens his mouth, the more I’m starting to realize he’s downright evil.  And, no surprise to me, alot of it stems from what HE purports to be a strength…his religious faith.

There has been a tremendous amount of controversy over comments Santorum has made over the last week, regarding Obama’s brand of Christianity.  You see, for bigots and hypocrites like Rick Santorum, it’s NOT ENOUGH for Obama to be a Church-going, long-time Christian.   No sirree.  He doesn’t have the right BRAND of Christianity.  In fact, from hearing Santorum speak over the last week, you’d think Obama actually was a cultish devil-worshiper, rather than a Christian.

Ok, you say, perhaps it’s just “dirty politics” (is there another kind?).  After all, Santorum is running to become president, so of course, in America, that means you have to talk about your opponent like they’re the worst thing since Hitler (Something, in fact, that Santorum HAS alluded to with regard to Obama!!).    What about a fine, “upstanding”, representative of Christianity?  Billy Graham’s son, “Rev.” (hah) Franklin Graham, talked today about Obama’s faith…or lack thereof.  Graham’s comments?

Graham said he CANNOT categorically say Obama isn’t a Muslim.  He also says that Islam has gotten a “Free Pass” from Obama.  Interesting comment…I didn’t realize that the American President was supposed to go to war with the Islamic faith.  He also referred to Obama as a “Son of Islam”, given that his father’s side of the family came from an Islamic background.

Who could blame Graham for his ignorant comments? After all, Obama is  (gasp!!) BLACK!!  And he once had an Islamic relative!!  Of COURSE he can’t be a Christian!  At least not the same BRAND of Christianity as (old white men) Graham and Santorum.   All of this reminds me of my junior high days, and the “clique-ness” of adolescents.  Religion for FAR too many has become not a place to ponder your humanity or man’s role in some “higher” order.

No, religion has become the equivalent of that “popular” kid in junior high who wouldn’t let you sit at the same lunch table.   You SAY you’re a Christian?  HAH!!  You’re not MY brand of Christian!!  ESPECIALLY since you LOOK differently from me!  You MUST be a Muslim!!!!  No lunch for you!! Not at MY lunch table!! Go eat with the “heathens” at the end of the cafeteria!!!

As I said, I don’t care what personal religious beliefs people have. But MY GOD, don’t people see the hypocrisy of their actions, compared to what their religion supposedly teaches them?   The BIGGEST BIGOTS in the U.S. seem to be those with a “strong moral foundation”, as provided by Christianity.   One of the most repulsive types of people to me are those that cloak themselves in their religion, all the while spouting pure HATE and vitriol for gays, people of other faiths, people of other races, etc.

“Reverend” Graham?  Given your actions, I consider you as much a “Reverend” as I do my pet cocker spaniel (not that my cocker spaniel is an evil bigot, but you get the idea).   I could simply state the obvious.  What if Obama were white?  Would Santorum, would “Reverend” Graham, be attacking Obama on religious grounds at all!?!??  I truly doubt it.

There is SO much hate and vitriol from the right, directed towards Obama.   It doesn’t help that hate and vitriol might as well become the new GOP slogan.  But it goes far beyond political discourse or dysfunction.   Church sponsored bigotry and hypocrisy is just a microcosm of America overall.  The Church CLAIMS to value “the golden rule”, kind treatment of others, etc….but in reality, has become a mechanism to spread hate of ALL other religions.

America?  We CLAIM to be the big “melting pot”, a country that cherishes diversity and views it as a strength.  In reality?  Our actions towards each other speak volumes on the horrors within the human heart and mind.

So, for all you good ol’ “REAL” (hah) Christians out there in America…next time you’re sitting in church for the Sunday sermon, how about actually listening to it?  How about actually taking it to heart?  How about using your religion as a tool for TOLERANCE, rather than as a sledgehammer for breaking down people who don’t act, look, or think like you?

Pity the Less Well-endowed Conservative

Intelligence - Liberals vs. Conservatives

I'm sorry, my conservative friends. When we argue, I always am reminded of Sean Connery in the Untouchables, who mocks his attacker for bringing a knife to a gun fight.

If you’ve ever even sniffed my blog, you know that I have quite strong, and generally quite liberal, political and social views.  Most of the people in my life at work, or personally, also tend to lean pretty heavily toward liberal viewpoints.  However, some of the people I enjoy the most are those who have intelligent, well-informed, and well thought-out political opinions that just HAPPEN to be the polar opposite of mine.   There’s something about having a conversation, or an argument, with your polar opposite that can be very, well, enjoyable.  Yes, people can take it too far, and be TOO serious or stubborn about their political views, something I too (obviously!) can be guilty of at times.  But it can be a real treat to find someone who is your polar opposite politically or socially, but yet is someone you still respect at the end of the day, and is someone where “arguments” generally consist of some fun teasing more than knock-down-drag-out fights.

And with that to set the tone for the rest of this post…

To put it simply…as this new study shows…if you’re, well, not blessed with intelligence, you’re also more likely to be a conservative, right-wing bigot.  It’s not fair, really.  We all have our burdens, but evidently, the facts show that if you’re born stupid, you also have some other strikes against you, things that make you, well…not so likable in my book.

There have been many other studies that have shown similar linkages, particularly between intelligence and political persuasion.  As this report notes, the most educated cities in the United States are Boulder, CO, Anne Arbor, MI, and Washington D.C.   Talk about liberal strongholds!! As a card-carrying, tree-huggin’, liberal nutjob, I of course can take GREAT delight at finding all of the evidence that points to intelligence being directly correlated towards a tendency to hold liberal viewpoints.  For those conservative friends/acquaintances that fit in the general mold as described at the top of this post, studies such as this provide SO many wonderful opportunities for teasing and mocking.

But alas, given that intelligence clearly IS tied to your viewpoints on life, those few conservative friends and acquaintances that I can disagree with, but yet still enjoy, are few and far between.  The Republican primaries themselves are ample evidence of the overall scarcity of intelligent Republicans.

I’m sorry, my Republican friends.  For those few intelligent conservatives who I do get along with, I not only respect you…but I actually pity you.  Being an “intelligent conservative” must be incredibly frustrating, given the mental deficiencies of all your conservative peers.   What a nightmare to be an intelligent conservative, where encounters with the vast majority of your conservative friends are marked by drooling and blank stares more than any meaningful conversation.  No WONDER the rare intelligent conservative seems to take so much delight in encounters with liberal acquaintances.  It must be like emerging from the nightmare of being alert but in a vegetative state, unable to express your views to anyone who will understand you.

So, to the few intelligent conservatives who are out there…take heart.  I feel your pain.  I will take pity on you should our paths cross.  I will engage in a hearty conversation with you.  Just remember…no matter how much we agree to disagree…the empirical evidence regarding intelligence clearly points to the likelihood that I am right, while you are wrong.

GOP – Home of Bigoted SOBs

Rep. Peter King

Rep. Peter King holding "hearings" on the place for Islam in America. Illegal immigration, gay rights, Islam and other non-Christian faiths...the GOP seems to have all their bases covered in terms of appealing to the underlying bigotry in their voting base.

Well, I KNEW there would be a lot of material from Thursday night’s debate that would make me mad.  I KNEW there would be exchanges between the GOP candidates that would provide plenty of fodder for a blog post.  But once again, as with the previous debate, it’s a reaction of some of those in the crowd that is the most sickening.  In the previous debate, we had the crowd shouting YES when Wolf Blitzer asked Ron Paul if an uninsured dying man should just be allowed to die.  This time, a few

members of the crowd actively booed active Army soldier Stephen Hill when he asked a question.  Hill is gay, and asked a question regarding don’t-ask-don’t-tell.

I realize the entire Republican party aren’t bigoted SOBs.  Well, I’m PRETTY sure they’re not all bigoted SOBs.  But given the GOP’s stance on a number of important issues, and given Republican candidates statements on these issues over the last year, there is NO way you can convince me that outright BIGOTRY isn’t behind many of the views of some of those in the GOP.  For the candidates themselves…sometimes I swear they’re all trying to see who can appear to be the whitest, most conservative SOB possible.  During the last debate, Mitt Romney ripped into Rick Perry for (GASP!) allowing all Texas residents to get in-state tuition rates.  Romney lashed out at Perry for what amounts to providing a $22,000 break on total tuition to undocumented immigrants.   WHY!?!?!?  WHO CARES!?!?!?  Why would the audience also BOO providing people with more reasonable tuition rates?  What POSSIBLE harm does this do to ANYONE?!?!!?   Why would such a seemingly minor issue become a major part of a debate of Republican presidential candidates!??!

The answer is simple…the GOP is VERY good at playing to the underlying bigotry of their voting base.  Oh, they won’t come out and say that.  But look at the issue of immigration, and GOP stance in these debates.  Perry, arguably the most conservative of all the main GOP candidates, is lustily booed for his immigration stances, for DARING to say you don’t have a heart if you want to take away this tuition rate.  Perry (OMG, am I defending Perry yet again?) also was ripped for not wanting to build a 10-foot fence all along the Mexican border.   The GOP candidates all seem to try to trip over themselves to see who can sound like the biggest BIGOT on the issue of immigration.  That’s what their voting base demands, and they play right into it.

I find Republicans views on immigration very disgusting, as it often seems like they talk about the issue as if they’re trying to stem a flow of cockroaches, rats, or other vermin, instead of talking about immigrants as PEOPLE.  I find Republican views equally disgusting on gay rights issues, as shown by the booing of Hill at the debate.   Every major candidate in the field supports a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, save for Ron Paul, who opposes it basically because of his libertarian views of keeping the government out of private issues.   How could you call it anything BUT bigotry, if the mainstream Republican view is that we should specifically amend our Constitution to discriminate against one group of Americans??

I could keep going.  The mainstream Republican stance seems to be to support more integration of religion into society, including government.  Well, more integration of religion, as long as it’s Christianity!   Republicans will fight like hell to support public displays that refer to God, bible passages, etc.  But they’ll fight equally hard AGAINST things like some supposed attempt to integrate Shariah law into our society.   It’s politically popular for local and state politicians to introduce legislation against Shariah law…despite NO evidence whatsoever that there is ANY push by the American Muslim community to expand the role of Shariah law in America.  And now at the federal level, we have had Rep. Peter King holding “hearings” on Islam in the U.S., hearings he said he’d like to continue.

I’m a white male with a Christian upbringing.  I’m heterosexual with a wonderful wife and little boy.  And I think sometimes my demographic is the ONLY group the GOP seems to be targeting.
