I’ve decided that I’m going to try to do one drawing a week. I’m getting faster at it, so even that isn’t too much of a drag on my time!! I can do one like this in about 2-3 hours, if I sit and work on it until it’s done.
This one is a Pacific Golden-Plover. If you’ve seen the other drawings I’ve done and posted out here, you likely know the story. As with the others, this is one I don’t have a photo of! Hence the decision to draw it instead.
Really beautiful birds when in breeding plumage such as this. There’s the very similar American Golden-Plover that IS found in South Dakota in migration. Well, at least that’s what they tell me. It’s one of my nemesis birds, both from a photo standpoint and from just a birding standpoint. I’ve at least SEEN pretty much everything that normally migrates through here, but the American Golden-Plover is one that’s somehow eluded me. Who knows maybe the next drawing will be of THAT species of Golden-Plover….
Plucky little bird dude! Love him!
